iBusted my iPod
I'm in the market for a new music player, iPod in style but not necessarily in name. I've been hearing a lot about the Zune recently, but I honestly don't know if it would be worth my trouble, since all my music is already in iTunes, and I don't think the Microsoft-made Zune will jibe with the Apple-made iTunes.Quick back story: I've had a 20-GB iPod for the last two years*, but a few months ago it started showing signs of breakdown -- weird little delays, unusual noises -- and then it finally just stopped working last month. How did I know? Why a little frown face on the screen of course. So, now that mine is old and busted I'm in the market for some of that new hotness.
I had always intended to upgrade to the Nano, but now I'm a little concerned given what's happened to my iPod. On the other hand, though, Nanos utilize a flash drive with virtually no moving parts, unlike the traditional iPods. Much less likely to break in my opinion. But is this breakage thing a theme with Apple? I've heard similar horror stories from other iPod users. I DON'T KNOW! I'M ALL VERKLEMPT!
Ah, the perils of modern technology.
Anyway, whatever feedback you have out there in net land is welcome.
* One of my favorite things over this two-year stint was referring to it as "The Pod" or "Big Pod," much to my wife's annoyance.

I've heard very good things from friends, and read very good reviews, about the Nano. I'm counting on Flash drives getting bigger and bigger as time goes on, 'cause no moving parts is always preferable to moving parts when it comes to expensive electronics. But I like having all my songs in the palm of my hand.
Still, chances are once my iPod goes to the great junkyard in the sky, I'm Nano-bound. I'm also not sold on any of those iPod wannabes, mostly because I love the iTunes interface so much. We'll see.
You freak. My iPod is a little over five years old now and I've had ZERO problems with it whatsoever. And it only has a little 10GB hard drive. It's so old it has BUTTONS and no touch sensitive controls, which might be why it works still. Also it's way more sturdy looking than those things they have now. When it dies I WILL CRY REAL TEARS.
